Find A Cure

With the launch of Belleza Jewelry we are also excited to announce our Survivor Campaign. The Survivor Campaign is dedicated to helping find a cure for Breast Cancer.

As a family-owned company, we have personally been affected by Breast Cancer have been moved to make this our mission.

A family member was diagnosed with breast cancer when she was in her mid 60s. She had a double mastectomy, and cobalt treatments. Of course this was many, many years ago when the survival rate for breast cancer was very low. As a result of the cobalt treatments, she suffered open sores for the remainder of her life. She was a fighter and she was brave. she fought her cancer and she survived. She lived to be 89 and died cancer free. She was a Survivor.

My friend, Jenny, was diagnosed with stage T-4 breast cancer when she was pregnant with her daughter just shy of her third trimester. Jenny was in the fight for her life and for the life of her unborn child. Jenny began chemotherapy while pregnant having had 4 treatments which in turn caused her to go into premature labor. Her daughter, Piper, was born 7 weeks premature. Following the birth of her daughter, Jenny had an additional 26 rounds of chemotherapy followed by a double mastectomy on December 15, 2009. Between the months of February and March 2010 she had another 35 rounds of chemotherapy.

Things finally started to look up when Jenny was able schedule her reconstructive surgery for September 7th 2010. Shortly after the surgery everything appeared to have been successful, except for a fever. Little did she know this fever was going to put her back in the hospital and fighting for her life once again. She went through numerous surgeries, 2 emergency surgeries and 250 explorative tests. She had to have three central lines put in and taken out. Her lungs collapsed and her organs began to shut down followed by sepsis. Her parents were told she wouldn't make it through the night on several different occasions. She had hallucinations and was not lucid for weeks. She thought she had been kidnapped. Jenny was a fighter, she was a new mother and she had her daughter to fight for. Jenny finally came through it and was released 30 days later and 30 pounds lighter, malnourished with two 12" scars that spanned her back and a 14" wound on the right side of her chest, she was no closer to feeling normal but she was alive and able to finally go home to her daughter.

Jenny stated,

" After several months of painful cutting and treatments my wound has started to heal. I've had to see a Pulmonologist, I have been diagnosed with depression and I've been doing physical therapy 3 times a week since mid February 2010 to try and get my arm and lungs to heal. Its been a long road, but its been worth it. My type of breast cancer offers no easy answer. There are no magic pills to take to help keep it from coming back, my prognosis was initially a week or less, and now, even in remission, 5 years is a real leap. I don't feel like i might die in 3 years, but that's just me. If you don't think positive you only open yourself up for the negative, including sickness."

Jenny is a Survivor

In 2010 in the USA there where 207,090 new cases of invasive breast cancer diagnosed, and 39,840 breast cancer deaths. We all can help find a cure.
